CAMP-CA-023

UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies
A high-school academic program operated by the university’s continuing-education division; the current format is commuter.
Completion earns 6 UC San Diego Extended Studies pre-college units and a grade record. It is not a certificate program; transfer is decided by the receiving school.
The data-science option uses Python and Jupyter for cleaning, visualization, regression and classification.
The neuroscience option explores neurons, sensory processing and experimental hypotheses, with a group project.
Study disease frequency, research design and bias through cases and collaborative population-health work.
Use speculative fiction to examine the climate crisis, environmental injustice and possible futures.
Courses emphasize discussion, experiments and independent thinking; the current class cap is 25.
Instructors are typically UC San Diego doctoral students who design and teach their subject courses.
After completing the course, students can view grades and request an official transcript separately.
Current requirements include age 14+, normally GPA 3.3 and a teacher/counselor recommendation. No housing, meals or transportation are provided.
2027 fees, additional charges and cancellation terms: contact an advisor.
International students may apply to the commuter program, which does not qualify for an F-1 student visa. Confirm 2027 participation conditions and immigration status with an advisor first.
Families arrange lodging, meals and daily transportation. Current classes include a UC San Diego Extended Studies teaching site in La Jolla; confirm the exact classroom and route with an advisor.
Neuroscience participants should be prepared for experiments involving invertebrates such as crickets and cockroaches; confirm materials and any accommodations in advance.
The application fee is nonrefundable; contact an advisor for 2027 courses, fees, attendance and cancellation terms.
Discuss this camp and participation arrangements with an ASCWORLD education adviser.
