Connect international-affairs coursework with Washington’s institutions and policy community.

CAMP-DC-002

American University School of International Service
The university’s own Community of Scholars program
Students can earn three American University credits by completing course requirements and request an official transcript after grading.
The conflict course studies how cultural differences can intensify or ease international conflict through contemporary cases.
The diplomacy course examines U.S. foreign-policy actors, international threats and policy trade-offs.
Visits to government offices, embassies or international organizations connect coursework with professional practice.
Use the final online week to develop a paper or project demonstrating understanding of the selected course.
After completing the course requirements and receiving a grade, students can earn three college credits and request an official transcript.
Typical classes of about 12–18 students support discussion and interaction.
Residential students use university housing and a meal plan; commuters may join many additional activities.
A transcript, application essay and recommendation are required. International students may apply and should confirm English testing, extra charges and entry documents in advance.
A nonrefundable enrollment payment is required after admission; contact an advisor for its 2027 amount, fee treatment and cancellation terms.
Current guidance allows refunds excluding the deposit with written cancellation at least 30 days before the program; ask about 2027 terms.
Check rising grade 11–12 eligibility and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
International applicants normally need to demonstrate English proficiency; the TOEFL iBT reference requirement is 80, with other scores or waiver conditions available through an advisor.
Housing is generally in double or triple rooms with resident assistants and controlled access; plan international flights and arrival transport separately.
Reserve the final online week for coursework and the final paper; leaving campus does not end the academic commitment.
Discuss this camp and participation arrangements with an ASCWORLD education adviser.
