A YMCA camp combining horses, lake activities and service-minded community in the Flint Hills tallgrass prairie.
Camp Wood YMCA offers week-long residential camp, younger Mini sessions and day options in Elmdale’s prairie landscape. Mornings feature interest Clubs and afternoons bring cabin-group activities. Camp welcomes different faiths, with Christian/universal values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, plus morning character stories or songs in the chapel.

Horse campers spend mornings in the hilltop arena and on prairie trails, then join general activities in the afternoon. Day and overnight formats are offered.
Swimming, boating, paddleboarding and fishing fill the waterfront program, alongside a waterslide.
High ropes, climbing tower, zip line, giant swing, hiking and trail biking provide varied challenges.
Painting, archery, soccer and construction Clubs are paired with crafts and evening group games.
Families select a payment tier according to means; the camp experience is the same across tiers.
Mini Camp gives ages 5–7 four days and three nights in smaller cabin groups.
Service tasks and evening Embers conversations build shared responsibility and reflection.
Day campers need daily transport: general day camp is ages 6–13, horse day camp 8–17. Week 4 residential camp is teens only. Different faiths are welcome within a Christian/universal-values setting; discuss health, diet and support needs beforehand.
Tier 1 reflects full cost; Tiers 2 and 3 are subsidized. Confirm the applicable tier arrangements.
Week 8 residential camp is reserved for partnerships; separately listed Mini and horse day sessions also run.
Stayover weekends are June 12–13 and July 10–11, 2027, at USD 100 each, only with both adjoining weeks booked.

Travel: general day camp usually runs 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. with lunch. Emporia and Chase County transport options are offered; confirm horse-day hours and stops.
Living and packing: groups use similar age and gender, with a prairie overnight in regular camp. Bring a sleeping bag and long riding pants; electronics are held by camp.
Health and international families: give original-container medicines to health staff. Communicable illness may require pickup; confirm overseas eligibility, English readiness, airport transport and an available collection adult.
