Boston University High School Honors

Study undergraduate courses alongside university students for a six-week experience of graded college work.

Residential students choose two undergraduate courses for which they meet prerequisites, earning up to eight BU credits. The examples below illustrate possible fields; ask about the 2027 course list.

University / venue relationship

Run by Boston University, with study in its undergraduate classrooms.

Credit / certificate

BU course credits and grades; an official Boston University transcript is available for a fee.

Courses & activities

Mathematical foundations for computing

Combinatoric structures explores logic, proof, induction, counting, sets and functions.

International relations

Examine conflict, cooperation and governance through theories of states, international institutions and globalization.

Neuroscience

Explore biological foundations of behavior and cognition, drawing on psychology, clinical science and neuroethics.

Psychology

Study learning, memory, perception, development, personality and social psychology.

Camp features & life

Undergraduate classroom experience

Attend courses with BU undergraduates and other university students, completing formal academic requirements.

Credits and transcript

Qualifying coursework earns BU credit; an official transcript is available for a fee. Transfer acceptance is decided by the receiving institution.

Residential support

Residence halls have around-the-clock security and live-in staff, with program assistants coordinating activities and curfew.

Students using BU-sponsored F-1 status must take two in-person courses totaling eight credits. Rising juniors need honors/AP preparation. Commuters must live with a relative or approved adult.

Ask about 2027 tuition, housing, meal and service fees; also check books, health insurance, travel and transcript charges. International students are not eligible for this program’s financial aid.

Travel & participation

Non-native English-speaking international applicants must submit TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo scores and meet the published overall and section requirements.

Prepare I-20/F-1 documentation early. Health insurance is required, along with immunization documentation including a valid two-dose MMR record.

Housing typically uses two- or three-person rooms and shared bathrooms, with no roommate requests; choose the appropriate university meal plan.

Confirm arrival, departure and transport after final 2027 dates are released.
