Apply foundational ideas through laboratories, simulations or case studies in the selected course.
Use dedicated reading, research and collaborative work time to develop individual or group projects.
Practice teamwork, conflict resolution, communication and ethical decision-making.
Present a project or investigation, receive instructor, teaching-assistant and peer feedback, and reflect on the learning process.
Residential students normally follow a structured 9 a.m.–9 p.m. schedule, including some weekend class time.
Teaching may involve Duke doctoral and graduate students, faculty or alumni, supported by teaching assistants and industry speakers.
Students learn in university buildings, use campus dining and join activities on and around campus.
A GPA of 3.0+ is recommended. Middle-school students must have completed one middle-school year and be at least 11 for commuting or 13 for residence. High-school students need one completed high-school year and age 14+, with residential participation only.
Contact an advisor for 2027 total tuition; optional airport transfers are US$45 each way and extra nights US$120, subject to permitted dates.
The balance is normally due 30 days before the session; unpaid places may be canceled.
2027 cancellation charges are US$500 by April 1, US$1,500 April 2–May 1, and 100% of tuition paid from May 2. Confirm the full-refund exception for cancellation within 30 days of enrollment before April 1, and deposit treatment, before paying.
International students need English-medium schooling, accepted test results or a paid interview; reference thresholds are TOEFL 90/4.5, IELTS 7.0 or Duolingo 115.
International students should prepare appropriate entry documents and confirm the program’s B-2 requirements and individual applicability before booking.
Prepare required North Carolina immunization records and upload them by June 1, 2027; bring a suitable computer.
Middle-school commuters generally arrive at 8:30 a.m. and leave at 5 p.m., with noon pickup on designated half-days and departure day; parents do not attend final presentations.
Confirm airport transfers and extra nights separately; airline unaccompanied-minor assistance can be requested only for middle-school students.
