Courses & activities

Rocket design and flight testing

Build and launch model rockets in Martian Expedition, then examine their flight paths and performance.

Mars habitats and life support

Design a habitat around the water, air and energy needed to support life.

Robotic rovers

Build and code robotic rovers for navigation, sampling and engineering challenges.

Materials in extreme conditions

Test heat-shield or cryogenic protection structures in relevant themes and compare performance under extreme conditions.

Mission roles and communication

Destination ISS assigns astronaut, Mission Control and science-support roles to practice mission teamwork.

Camp features & life

Real-world facilities

Certain Johnson Space Center and training-facility visits depend on availability; five-day programs list a live astronaut presentation.

Visible project outcomes

Complete models, robotic tasks or mission challenges according to the chosen theme, with a graduation activity and completion certificate.

Individual or group participation

Individual and group registration are offered; groups need at least one adult chaperone per ten students.

Who might enjoy this camp?

  • High-school students who want to apply engineering through tangible projects
