School introduction

Founded in 1869 in Hilo, this school grew from a local community institution into an educational setting spanning preschool through high school.

Its small-school approach values each student’s strengths and encourages responsibility through learning and service. Hawaiian culture, diverse family backgrounds and Catholic traditions shape campus life.

Curriculum

The secondary program combines college-preparatory study with honors and AP options and English-language support. The course framework includes English, mathematics, science, history, world languages, physical education and electives; placement depends on the student’s background.

Elementary learning connects academic work with cultural activities and music. Grade-specific opportunities include college-awareness activities, family events and Hawaiian cultural celebrations; participation depends on grade and timing.

  • The regular curriculum includes religious education, and school activities reflect a Catholic setting.
  • Standard enrollment is for at least one semester. The five-day visit is only for students considering longer-term study at this school.
