School introduction
Founded in 1984, WSP has two Silicon Valley campuses and emphasizes intellectual, emotional and practical development. Art, nature and hands-on work shape school life, with digital tools introduced progressively.
Regular provision extends from early childhood through grade 12: early childhood–grade 5 in Los Altos and grades 6–12 in Mountain View. The school lists ACS WASC and AWSNA accreditation and NAIS membership. Contact an advisor for grades available to short-term visitors.
Curriculum
Elementary, grades 1–5: Language arts uses stories, recitation, writing and grammar; mathematics draws on rhythm, manipulatives and forms. Specials include Spanish, knitting and sewing, gardening, music and eurythmy; string instruments begin by grade 3.
Middle school, grades 6–8: Grade 6: mineralogy, Roman history and business mathematics. Grade 7: Renaissance studies, acoustics, mechanics and algebra foundations. Grade 8: organic chemistry, modern history and economic geography.
High school, grades 9–12: Main lessons typically run for four weeks in daily 105-minute sessions. Examples include Honors Calculus, Honors Biochemistry, Advanced Study Astronomy and Shakespeare, plus blacksmithing, book arts, stone carving and clay sculpture. The school uses its own Advanced Study and Honors framework rather than AP or IB.
