School introduction

RCS has served local families since 1981, offering a continuous education from the early years through high school. It connects university preparation with practical life skills, including clear expression, critical analysis, cultural and artistic awareness, and care for personal and shared wellbeing.

Student government, performance, athletics, clubs and service provide varied opportunities to develop leadership. The middle-school years place particular emphasis on independent learning, healthy friendships and organization as students prepare for high school.

Curriculum

Elementary English combines phonics, reading and progressively more developed writing. Mathematics moves from concrete materials to pictures and abstract ideas, using number bonds, bar models and mental calculation. Science and social studies include experiments, projects, garden learning and grade-specific themes.

The grade 7–8 course guide covers English, mathematics, life or physical science, history and physical education, with algebra available according to readiness. Exploratory options include theatre, drawing, ceramics and filmmaking; grade 8 also introduces Spanish or American Sign Language.

High school emphasizes reading and writing across subjects, argument and research, with AP and university dual-credit pathways, some incorporating online university learning. Subjects, prerequisites and electives vary by division and semester. Contact an advisor about short-stay timetables and project participation.

  • The regular program includes Bible or theology study and weekly chapel. Contact an advisor about the courses and participation requirements that apply to short-term students.
