Build confidence through age-appropriate literacy, ensemble music and school service.
School introduction
GCS has served its community for more than 70 years, with regular programmes from preschool through junior high. The school aims to connect classroom learning with everyday life, helping children develop independence, responsibility and care for others alongside academic knowledge.
Junior high emphasizes clear learning structures and increasing personal responsibility, while music, sports and service broaden campus life. Student leadership includes school-service projects, support for younger pupils and community activities, giving learners ways to put their skills into action.
Curriculum
Elementary subjects include reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. Early learning builds phonics, vocabulary, handwriting and number sense. Published Grade 4 examples extend into novels, different writing forms, fractions and decimals, geometry, California history and science experiments.
Grades 6–8 cover literature, composition, Spanish, mathematics, science, social studies and PE. The published division outline progresses from earth to life and physical science, and from ancient civilizations to world and US history. Mathematics develops through pre-algebra and algebra, with some geometry according to readiness.
The 2026–2027 music programme lists Grades 3–5 choir, Grades 4–8 band and Grades 3–8 drumline, plus instrumental and voice lessons.
