Campus paths and academic buildings

School introduction

Founded in 1905 in Rome, Georgia, this school connects academic study with responsibility and service. Its approximately 500-acre campus includes a lake, wooded trails, athletic facilities and arts spaces that support learning beyond the classroom.

The Upper School serves grades 9–12 in a shared day and boarding community. Six residential houses, each supported by a dedicated head of house, help boarding students build independence, cooperation and belonging.

Curriculum

The regular Upper School curriculum is grounded in English, mathematics, laboratory science, history, world languages and the arts, with AP and other advanced options. Writing develops across subjects, and course planning connects with prior study and graduation requirements.

Engineering and creative pathways include introductory robotics and engineering, computer science and design thinking. Art progresses from drawing, printmaking and clay toward individual projects; theatre, stagecraft and music provide further creative options.

iPeriod reserves time for interests such as robotics, filmmaking and community service. Senior Ventures is a year-long, student-proposed project supported by mentors. Contact an advisor about specific opportunities and term arrangements.

  • Upper School students attend chapel each Thursday. Religious life is grounded in a non-denominational Judeo-Christian tradition and welcomes different faiths; Sunday off-campus worship is optional.
