TSDCH School
Durham, North Carolina
Connect thoughtful reading with engineering and artistic exploration on a nature-framed campus.
School introduction
Founded in 1995 in Durham, North Carolina, this school occupies a 22-acre campus alongside woods, creeks and trails. Its unhurried approach gives students time for sustained reading, discussion, creative work and school life.
Classical education within a Christian framework connects literature, history and enduring ideas with modern science, arts and engineering. An arts and engineering building supports music, visual arts, theatre, robotics and engineering exploration.
Curriculum
Upper School core subjects offer college-preparatory and honors levels. In grades 9–11, humanities integrates literature, history, art and faith while meeting English and history requirements. Honors students investigate a substantial question over the year, then present and defend their findings.
STEM begins with modeling-based physics and extends across mathematics, major sciences, engineering and programming, including robotics. Courses emphasize understanding and problem-solving, with level placement based on preparation.
Winterim normally offers experiential courses over six school days after Christmas break. Seniors complete a semester-long Capstone in research, creative work or service. These are regular-school programs, not a winter short-stay offer; contact an advisor about individual participation.
- Upper School graduation requirements include Bible and theology, and attendance is required at scheduled worship and chapel. Contact an advisor about transfer requirements.
