PCA Academy
Lilburn, Georgia
Learn to explain, collaborate and create, from elementary experiments to research presentations.
School introduction
PCA opened in 1991, welcoming K–12 students in leased premises before developing separate learning, athletic and arts facilities. Its aim is to combine a strong academic foundation with a caring community in which students build responsibility and independence.
Classroom learning connects with teamwork and service. Mixed-grade middle-school groups foster belonging through collaboration and acts of kindness, while high-school students can contribute through organizations, arts, athletics and clubs. Practical experiences encourage students to explain their thinking, take responsibility and apply learning to real problems.
Curriculum
Elementary learning develops from phonics, comprehension, handwriting and number foundations into vocabulary research, extended writing, fractions, decimals and algebraic thinking. Science and social studies explore body systems, the solar system, history and citizenship. Weekly STEM lab work sits alongside cultural studies, music, art, library and PE.
Grades 6–8 use learning performance to shape schedules, with an emphasis on reading, writing, mathematics, science and organization. The spring research showcase includes individual and group oral defenses. Students may choose choir, band or rotations involving art, drama, Spanish, STEM and media.
Grades 9–12 offer standard, honors, AP and dual-enrollment pathways, with Wednesday seminars for interests such as arts, technology and sports. STEM progresses from prototyping to robotics, city-system solutions and independent capstone projects; computing includes web and game design.
