LSA Academy
Riverside, California
A long-established school combining core learning with STEAM, music and media practice.
School introduction
LSA has served the Riverside community since 1922, with a continuous elementary-to-high-school program. Outdoor playing fields, a gymnasium, auditorium, computer rooms, a STEAM lab and a television studio connect classroom learning with arts, sport and media production.
Its educational goals include academic preparation, responsibility and contribution to the community. Drama, music, student media and service activities give older students opportunities to organize, communicate and work with others through practical school responsibilities.
Curriculum
Elementary pupils rotate through music, physical education, technology and STEAM alongside core subjects. Grades 7–8 add band, choir, strings, art, Spanish and STEAM; suitably prepared students can take advanced mathematics, including high-school algebra.
High-school subjects include writing and literature, geography and history, economics and government, laboratory sciences and mathematics. The school also lists AP courses and options such as audiovisual and television production, culinary arts and yearbook. Some upper-grade students may pursue university dual credit.
Courses vary by division, prerequisites and the academic schedule. Contact an advisor about the timetable, electives and activities available during a short placement.
- The regular program includes religion classes, and school rules include chapel in attendance requirements. Contact an advisor about the arrangements for short-term students.
